Agra Trip,The city home to the biggest monument of love

Whenever I have visited Agra, I realized how the monuments of this city have survived the test of time, yet look so beautiful that they attract thousands of tourists on a regular basis. Perhaps, the Mughals were true to their architecture and gave their structures a beautiful and novel look.

The best time to visit the city is somewhere around October to March when the tourists will not have to face the harsh rays of the sun. The summers in Northern India are very dry and therefore tourists may have a tough time travelling freely at that time of the year. The winters on the other hand are very pleasant and it is the ideal time to visit the city of the Taj Mahal.

Developed by the Mughals, Agra has a number of heritage sites, including the Agra fort, Fatehpur Sikhri and the magnificent Taj Mahal. The Taj, is arguably the most popular monument in the world and the biggest architectural symbol of love.

As Rabindranath Tagore rightly said “The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.” Whenever I see the monument it reflects an element of pathos which is almost heart-wrenching. It is almost like carpe diem, where Shahjahan tried to seize the love he had for his wife in this beautiful white monument.

If you are travelling to Agra, then be sure to take your time while visiting the Taj, because at at the end of the day, the monument was created to pay homage to true love and love does require time to be deciphered. Instead of clicking hundred of selfies with the Taj in the background, hold still and try to analyze the beauty and melancholy which is encapsulated between each wall of this centuries old building.
